OUR STORY

After many years in the corporate world, we traded boardrooms for blueprints to pursue our passion for home renovation and building a family business. In 2016, Tim left his corporate job to focus full-time on restoring dilapidated homes in Minneapolis and turning them into rental homes, some with full-time tenants, others short-term with AirBnB and VRBO, in which we welcomed visitors from around the world. Wendy joined the business full-time in 2021. In 2016, while planning a trip to Belize, we stumbled upon an article about Nosara, a little surf town on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. On a whim, we changed our destination. We had no idea how profoundly that little pivot would change our lives. We’ve visited many amazing places, but Nosara is the one that kept drawing us back, again and again. And again. Nosara is an incredibly friendly and welcoming town that attracts visitors from all over the world, with a vibrant and supportive expat community. In 2022, we decided to turn our dream of living here more or less full-time into reality, and set out to build a home and two vacation villas on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Having stayed in many short-term rentals, and being AirBnB Superhosts ourselves, we know what it takes to create a relaxing, memorable vacation experience. We’re confident that Sunset Sanctuary Nosara, and all of the amazing activities this town offers, will leave our guests wanting to return again and again. And who knows -- maybe you'll decide to chase your dreams up a bumpy mountain road like we did!
