OUR STORY

After many years in the corporate world, we stepped away from the 9-to-5 to roll up our sleeves and build a family business creating quality housing for others. In 2016, Tim left his corporate job to focus full-time on transforming neglected houses in Minneapolis into comfortable, welcoming homes, some rented to long-term tenants and others offered as short-term stays on Airbnb and VRBO. Wendy joined the business full-time in 2021.
That same year, while planning a trip to Belize, we stumbled upon an article about Nosara, a little surf town on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. On a whim, we changed our destination. We had no idea how profoundly that small pivot would change our lives. We’ve visited many amazing places, but Nosara is the one that kept drawing us back—again and again.
Nosara is an incredibly friendly and welcoming town that attracts visitors from around the world, and boasts a vibrant and supportive expat community. In 2022, we decided to turn our dream of living here more or less full-time into reality, and broke ground on a home for ourselves along with two vacation villas and a one-bedroom casita for guests to enjoy—all perched on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Having stayed in many short-term rentals, and being longtime Airbnb Superhosts ourselves, we know what makes for a fun, relaxing, and memorable vacation experience. We’re confident that Sunset Sanctuary Nosara, and all of the amazing activities this town offers, will leave our guests wanting to return again and again. And who knows—maybe you’ll decide to chase your dreams up a bumpy mountain road like we did!
